Lets start a Norwich 'Skeptics in the Pub'!

I'm moving on back to my home town Norwich in a couple of months and I'm really keen on the idea of starting up a skeptics in the pub group for monthly, maybe bi-weekly, meet-ups in a selection of Norwich's finest ale-baring free-houses.

I'm totally open to any ideas regarding format, feel free to share any ideas below the line.  I thought it might be fun to adopt a similar format to Skeptics Guide to the Universe podcast from the New England Skeptical Society: sharing news and interesting stuff, maybe get occasional guest-speakers, a bit of science-or-fiction...

If you are interested in science and the skeptical community, or simply want to broaden your knowledge and meet interesting people, let me know in the comments.

Definitely a good idea. I've just returned to Norwich after 3 years in the middle east - would be happy to join.

Very interested! The models of SGU and 'Skeptics with a k' are very encouraging. Plus the beer, of course.

Awesome! So that's 4 including my fiancee, Angela. How many shall we aim for? Plus, any ideas on how to best do it? Maybe we could start a Google doc to collate ideas/assign roles?

Five including Barrie!
Umm - organisation... don't know what would be best. Start with beers all round and take it from there? I noticed an Anti-Vaccination campaign group advertising in one of the arts centres recently, which is a bit concerning.

Ooh anti-vaccinationers would be a worthy first adversary. Especially given that its back on the front page of the mail. Have they no memory, let alone shame?! Is barrie your other half Sarah?

Anyone have any fave pubs? Do we go for a regular haunt or do we sample the variety?
